Children's Ministries

• Children's Sunday School Classes
  Classes are available for all children from age three through 6th grade from 9.30am to 10.30am.  Classes for 3 and 4 year olds are located on the North end of Akard Hall.  Classes for 5 year olds and Kindergarten through 6th grade are located on the third floor of the main building.

• Children's Church, Ages 3-5
  During the 10:50am service, a special church is available for young children. During the service the children will be engaged in crafts, stories and songs to help them learn more about the week's lesson. Occurring on all Sundays except the first Sunday of the month, it begins with a special Children's Sermon in Worship.

• Nursery Hours, Ages birth-3 years
  A fully staffed nursery is available through all worship services on Sunday. The ages are birth through 3 years.

• Children's Music
  Children's Vocal and Instrumental ensembles are part of our Music Ministry .

• Puppet Ministry
  The Puppet Ministry meets on Wednesday evenings from 5.30pm to 6.30pm. 5th and 6th graders are encouraged to participate in the puppet ministry at FUMC. The puppeteers provide ministry during Sunday School, children's sermons, children's church, and other special events throughout the year.

• Summer Camps and Vacation Bible School
  During the summer there are a variety of opportunities for spiritual growth and fun for the children. The dates are announced on a yearly basis.

• Childcare
  Childcare is provided on the following schedule:
  Monday - Carillon handbells and committee meetings
  Wednesday - Bible studies, Orchestra, reunion groups, and Chancel Choir
  Childcare is also available for other events at the church by reservation only. See the Administrative Council Children's Department Policy Handbook for instructions for making a reservation.

• Other Opportunities
  Some of the other ministries our children participate in are Operation Christmas Child, White Christmas, CPS Angel Tree, Prison Ministry Angel Tree, The Heifer Project, Care Home Ministry, and Acolyte Ministry.

• Safe Sanctuaries
  First United Methodist Church, Weatherford, Texas, Inc., is a Safe Sanctuaries Congregation. We work diligently to provide a safe and healthy environment for the Christian education of all Children and youth. We adhere to the guidelines set by our Administrative Board to help up accomplish this goal. A few of the standards are sign-in and sign-out procedures, ratios for childcare, and criminal history checks on employees and volunteers.
