Music Ministries
Adult Music Ensembles prepare for Sunday morning worship services. Many singing,
ringing, and playing opportunities are available for musicians of all ages and skill
levels. Chancel Choir - Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm in Music Suite or Sanctuary
The Chancel Choir regularly provides music for the 10:50 am service and major
seasonal events.
Chapel Choir — Sundays, 7:45-8:25am in Choral Rehearsal Room, Music Suite
or Sanctuary The Chapel Choir regularly provides music for the 8:30 am service and
major seasonal events.
Carillon Ringers - Mondays, 5:30-6:30pm in Handbell room, Music Suite The
Carillon Ringers work on literature of a challenging nature. Membership is by invitation
of the director.
Praise Team—Saturdays, 4:00-5:30pm An adult praise team rehearses in a classroom
adjoining Akard Hall downstairs to bring contemporary worship influence into our
services of worship as needed.
Youth Ensemble
Paradigm Shift Youth Band—Sundays, 4:30-5:30pm in the RedHouse (314 Elm
St.) Paradigm Shift is for youth instrumentalists (7th-12th grades) interested in
being “lead worshippers” for the student ministries at First UMC. Bring your instrument-of-choice
(except drums…they are provided) and come jam with us! This group also participates
in Contemporary Worship services in the FLC about once a quarter.
Orchestra - Sundays, 4:30-5:30pm in the Music Suite as needed
Children’s Music Ensembles for 3 year-olds through 6th graders rehearse on
Wednesday afternoons during the school year immediately following school.
They work on beginning musicianship skills, vocal technique, handbell/handchime
technique, and worship participation skills using literature, techniques, and resources
appropriate to their age level. The children’s ensembles present music regularly
in worship and also prepare for major music ministry programs in the fall and spring.
