Prayer Ministry at First of Weatherford
The Prayer Ministry is a ministry of intercessory prayer. What is intercessory prayer? Intercessory prayer is prayer offered to God for others. An intercessor is one who takes the place of another or pleads another’s case. One study Bible defines intercession as, “holy, believing, preserving prayer whereby someone pleads with God on behalf of another or others who desperately need God’s intervention”. At FUMC we have over 100 email intercessors that will pray for the needs of others and may be contacted through Prayer@FumcWeatherford.org. We also have a telephone prayer chain that consists of dedicated prayer warriors that do not have access to the internet. At 1:00 pm every Tuesday intercessors gather in our prayer chapel to pray for those in need. An ongoing ministry called “Pray for the Children” matches a child/youth in our congregation with a volunteer that covets to pray daily for that child as well as send them notes of encouragement.
